‘2012 Glass Art Fantasia in Chungpyong’, celebrating 40 years diplomatic relationship between Korea and India.
It is very unprecedented event in the glass art field in that fifty honorees and students from Environmental Art & Design department at Namseoul University collaborate to create eighty of whole new glass art works, accompanied with image copyright donation by Korean renowned artist, Lee Wal Chong.
They did fusing with glass color powders to create different colorful hues onto special glass plates, putting in and out many times through the furnace.
*Fusing
Fusing is a technique when two different glasses are melted and mixed together. It is a technique one can depict complicated forms and patterns while its original shape stays, especially called Tack Fusing. The way of fusing looks simple but it is a time consuming and difficult work because the expansion rates of its medium have to be identical from the many colors.

‘㈜ART507’에서는 2013년 한국과 인도 수교 40주년을 기념하여 유니세프 인도 돕기 10만불 기부를 위한 글라스 아트 컬렉션을 전시합니다.
한국의 대표작가 이왈종 화백의 저작권 기부를 통해, 대한민국 Honor 50인과 남서울대학교 환경조형학과 학생들이 콜라보레이션으로 만든 글라스 아트 80점 (이왈종 화백의 작품이 담긴 5호와 8호 사이즈의 특수유리에 다양한 색상의 유리 파우더로 채색하여 용광로에서 여러 번의 작업을 통해 완성)을 전시합니다.
퓨징(Fusing)이란?
본 작품에서 사용한 퓨징기법은 분리되어 있는 두 개의 유리를 녹여 하나로 만드는 것으로 방법이 자유롭고 복잡한 문양과 형태를 표현할 수 있는데, 본래의 형태가 그대로 유지되는 택(Tack) 퓨징 방식입니다. 이 기법의 원리는 간단하지만 팽창률이 동일한 재료이어야 하는 조건으로 다양한 색상의 유리를 찾는 것이 관건이기에 작업시간이 오래 걸리고 작업 공정과 난이도가 높은 작업입니다.
